A J-Boat visited Clifton Harbor, circled around a bit, then left. I think they thought the anchorage was a bit tight for them. I never got close to it, and I never figured out which one it was. A couple of clues were the dutch flag on the staf astern and the black mast. I still don't know which one it was however. My impression was of a huge mast and little else on this boat. Impressive.

We met some really nice people and visited thier guest cottage at The Heights, Grenada. They have a mountian top view of the Grenadines. Nice place, nice folks, and quiet here.

Rivers Rum Factory
This place has been in operation for about 200 years and much of the original plant is just as it was 200 years ago including the waterwheel which operates the cane crusher, the copper boiling pots, and the underground tanks where the rum is under lock and key until the revenue man comes and measures it.

The Rum is 162 proof; Firewater! Sold only in Grenada.

Stormy Night at Petite Anse, Grenada

We stayed one night at the Petite Anse Hotel right on the beach at the northern end of Grenada. In the distance we could see the Grenadines and Carriacou. It was a stormy night, some say the worst weather they have had there since Hurricane Ivan. For us it was exciting. The bar upstairs was cosy and we enjoyed our dinner while the storm raged. During the night we opened our door to the fury and heard, and felt, the palm trees swaying, the rain beating down, and the waves crashing on the beach just below our cottage.

We do not recommend crossing these waters to Carriacou on a night like this. We saw two boats setting out for that crossing just as the storm hit. I think they had a rough night.

By morning the rain and clouds were gone, but the wind and waves remained.
