Stormy Night at Petite Anse, Grenada

We stayed one night at the Petite Anse Hotel right on the beach at the northern end of Grenada. In the distance we could see the Grenadines and Carriacou. It was a stormy night, some say the worst weather they have had there since Hurricane Ivan. For us it was exciting. The bar upstairs was cosy and we enjoyed our dinner while the storm raged. During the night we opened our door to the fury and heard, and felt, the palm trees swaying, the rain beating down, and the waves crashing on the beach just below our cottage.

We do not recommend crossing these waters to Carriacou on a night like this. We saw two boats setting out for that crossing just as the storm hit. I think they had a rough night.

By morning the rain and clouds were gone, but the wind and waves remained.
