The heads are carved on the four sides of the towers inside Bayon. There are 54 towers.

Outside of the Bayon temple there are many other smaller temples. We walked across the grass in the warm sunlight on a lazy day in Angkor Wat to see some of them and take these photos.

An hour north of the town of Siem Reap we came to the small temple of Banteay Srey. Bathed in the shadows and warm sunlight of late afternoon this temple amazed us with its rich complexity.

Temple Doorways, Angkor Wat, Cambodia

The temple entrances and the long corridors down the galleries had a geometric beauty that I needed to capture.

I found the quality of light astonishing; the shades of grey as the doorways receeded and the contrast between the deep shadow inside and the blinding sunlight outside all called to me.
