Start, Day 1

Day one was a windward/leeward course and we pushed hard. It was also the last day ever for this mainsail. Ten minutes after the race it disintegrated. Not repairable. The new main is not here yet so we shifted to the Dacron main for the rest of the regatta. Would it have made a difference to have the new main? We'll never know

Approaching the First Mark

Day 2, From Leeward

In this photo we have the Dacron main and the used genoa from Minney's.

Working the Beach

We sailed this leg for all we were worth; in close, tacking around the rocks, coasting through the lulls, tracking every shift, and it worked: we made huge gains and passed three boats.

We changed to the S2 kite

Awards

The trophy went to Gordon, our new bowman.

Wreck of the Yacht Rage

Our first view of Rage after she went aground. Already solidly aground, in the surf, on rocks. We didn't know it but the boat was already doomed.

For the next two days we worked on the boat out in the surf, but after two days the anchor was released and the boat moved farther ashore at high tide and we were able to work at low tide when the hull was high and dry.
