One last race in Trinidad. TTSA held a fun race on October 21, 2012. It was a 20 mile course and we had a crowd aboard, 14 people, the wind averaged 3.5 knots so the race was slow, but fun; we were in the lead, about 1.5 miles from the finish, when they abandoned it.

Our friendly competitor: Cmos, Norman Da Costa's Soverel 43

We were so amazed at the structure on the back of this vessel that I had to get a photo. Owned by Mary Kay and Russ, keen sailors, they will ship the boat to the med for an Europian cruise. Not a bad idea considering.

All new, shiny clean, stainless steel insides make our Magma BBQ look and work great.

Even better with a rack of sausages aboard.

suza goltz imagesFive foriegn flagged fishing boats with 160 plus fishermen aboard are anchored in Chag Bay with no fuel, no food, and no money; their owners ran out of money and just left them stranded. The Trinidad government is working on a plan to send them home, but for now, without fuel or food, they can't leave and can't come ashore in Trinidad. Chris Westcott, skipper of Impetus, organized a food drop.

Note: We've seen hundreds of these white, chinese style, fishing boats, mostly anchored and in poor condition, throughout the world. It seems they get sent out but not backed by viable companies so in some place or the other, they simply get abandonded. In addition to these five, there are a few dozen others, including some which are half sunken and upside down, around Trinidad.

These guys were happy for the food we brought.
