Boat Work in Cartagena

Click any image to enlarge

At Pescara Santa Clara, a small boat yard in Cartagena, (which does not have haul-out facilities) we had some guys sand and paint the deck, while Judy and I did some sanding and painting below deck. Pescara Santa Clara is a friendly place and we liked it.

Forte, Our Security Guard

On Tuesday we moved to Manzanillo Marina Club and were hauled out (in thre smallest travel lift we've ever seen, but it worked). The bottom had a lot of barnacles and the hull was really dirty but with the short time we have here (3-4 days) we won't have time for a real top notch job, and the topsides will not get cleaned and waxed this time. too bad.

Before Sanding

Meanwhile we were living ashore in an apartment in a high rise near the beach. We often had visitors. In this shot, left to right, Gerry, Douglas (obscured) Judy, Karel, Phil.

And the apartment's previous occupants, Omar and Geoff

Back at the Manzanillo Marina Club boat yard the work is nearly finished on Wings' bottom paint. Three coats of Hemple Globic black.

21" Folding Martec-30 years old

30 year old Martec Folder, Elliptic blades, huge 21" Diam, 15" pitch, right hand, 1" shaft, no taper. It was refurbished in New Zealand in 1999 and held as a spare since then. Now it's needed as the one we've been using is getting really floppy.
