This is the Singapore River where I watched opium addicted men toiling to load bales of rubber back in 1969. Times have changed; now Boat Quay is a trendy bar district surrounded by the towers of Singapore's financial district.

We sewed this flag on the passage from Brunei, using spinnaker cloth and our Sailrite Sailmaker machine. The last day of work on it was four hours of sewing all the little bits while we sailed on a beam reach at 6.5 knots. Good thing the seas were down, or this flag might have had a few more slip-ups.

We finaly got some wind and had a nice sail going into Singapore, but the predominate feeling was that this 30 miles into Singapore was a bit different from the 30 miles we used to sail going into Seattle.

This is a delightful yacht club at Serasa, near Maura, in Brunei. They welcomed us and allowed us to use their facilities, including the pool and washing machine, and we enjoyed great meals and the comraderie in their club house.

We hired a water taxi to take us through the water village across the river from Bandar Seri Begawan. This water village (houses on stilts) has been the prominent feature of Bandar for centuries.
