Puerto Princesca


Puerto Princesca, pretty typical Filipino town. This is the capital of Palawan. We came here to check out of the Philippines, and do some shopping. Meanwhile, the boat was on Ulagan Bay, on the other side of the island,

This is the Jeepney to Puerto Princesca. Try riding this for 8 hours to get to El Nido, The guy in back has the dorr open so he can sit on it.

Judy goes to the bakery in El Nido. Most of the stores in small Filipino towns are like this: open fronted with a counter, and you ask for what you want.

Safari Bar


Somehow we always found a quiet place for a cold beer in the Philippines. This is the Safari Bar in Culion, upstairs, over the water, cool and quiet. But there was a Karaoke Machine in the corner, a sure sign that it wouldn't be so quiet in the evening.

We were lucky that there were few ships in on the day we went to pick up our water. The local pure water store brought 20 big jugs and filled our tanks for $18. In this dry place we didn't complain
