The painting was finished after dark on Sunday and our first real look was Monday morning. Here are the shots over the course of a week.

Next Saturday & Sunday Judy & I installed the rudder, tiller, and Windvane.

There were a few snags in the windvane installation which we are working on but the main thing we are concerned about are some apparent failures in the the paint. This could be a disaster.

The Painter needs to come back on Monday and take a look at it.

But from a distance, it looks good.

Bigger Tent

Forward: Men At Work

Aft: Wet Sanding

New Colors

The latest primer coat is black after one coat of white and several coats of grey. Between each one there were applications of filler (also known as bog or bondo, depending on your location). And always: sanding. Hand sanding, machine sanding, long boarding, wet sanding, dry sanding. Sleeves of sand paper. Cans of filler. Layers sprayed on and then sanded off: over four weeks of this.

This job is employing 5 or 6 men, but labor is cheap in Thailand so I don't mind and meanwhile the hull is getting the best fairing job it's ever had.

Rubber Plantation in Phuket

We see these rubber plantations all around Phuket and elswhere in Thailand and Malaysia, a reminder that rubber is one of the important raw materials long supplied to the world from SE Asia.

This morning I stopped to take a few shots.
