Party Guests-1

Judy laughs with Andrea, Bryan and Carol's daughter

Andrea and here brother David (not pictured) are skilled Hobie sailors, you can read about them and Hobie sailing in the Philippines here and here.

Robert, French as you can get, filled with passion and fun

We met Robert and Flor de Lisa in the boat yard at Subic Bay, where they were working on their new acquisition, a Perry Designed Lefitte 44. They immediately invited us to dinner and we've been great friends since.

Sandy, when it comes to sailing, she's done it. She and hubby Dave have been cruising 1976

Sandy and Judy have a similar approach to sailing: They both can handle anything, but keeping their care free husbands from getting too far over the edge is a full time job. I've learned to trust Judy's judgment about the boat and weather, and I know Dave trusts Sandy too.

Party Guests-2

Carol Levinge-A ton of energy in a small package!

When Bryan, on the spur of the moment, invited us to dinner aboard Cavelier in Cebu City back in 2004, Carol never blinked an eye; she just put on a great spread and was a perfect hostess. She may be pint size, but from the advice she gave us about handling officals in the Philippines we quickly decided that she probably wasn't someone you wanted to try to push around. Carol is smart and tough as well as beautiful and fun.

Dave Barr, Fun loving sailor who can do it all

Dave and Sandy have sailed their Choy Lee 38 Force 8 all over Asia Pacific, and have been to Japan several times. I knew I'd met Dave and Sandy before when I first saw him in Subic. It turned out we were in Port Bonbonon together in 2004

Hiede, New to sailing but game for it

Flor, French speaking Filipina, competent and gracious, married 29 years to Robert

JR, Pilot for Continental Airlines, and Hiede, on the trip home

JR bought a Bertram 55 sports fisherman in Quam where it had been damaged in a Typhoon, and after reparing it, drove it to Subic Bay in the Philippines where he and Hiede live when they aren't in Quam or Manila.

There is nothing I like better than to meet a mate like Bryan Levinge. He's usually down at the boat and I can go there and hang out, or maybe we go have a beer, or go check out the local auction, or whatever salty characters like us want to do around a marina. He also gives great tips about getting things done in the Philippines as well as sharing local tactical knowlege.

Bryan & Carol's "Cavelier" anchored in Subic Bay

Bryan and Carol Lavinge, and their two delightful children, David and Andrea, are old friends whom we previously met cruising in the Philippines. Bryan has had great success racing his Davidson designed Cavelier, Carol is georgous and terrific on the boat, and the kids are smart, and great sailors in their own right.

They have a nice home in Subic, a house in Manila, and offices in Manila and Hong Kong, but they still have plenty of time together as a family
