Judy D Jensen, A Classic Boat
beken of cowes 1910

William Fife designed this boat in 1870. It was competitive for several decades. Beken of Cowes shot this photo in 1910. I saw it on a wall in a Bar in Phuket, Thailand, in 2009. I've been thinking about it ever since.
We decided to do a modern design of that vessel and I'd name it Judy D Jensen. A classic boat named for a classic woman.

First we make a wire frame of the basic hull shape.

The next step, necessary to determine placements of the interior structure, is to add rig and keel and rudder.

Then we start adding interior

We moved the Salon and cockpit aft 4 feet after getting a feel for the interior spaces. It opened up the salon.

At his point the interior is at a major checkpoint

We have yet to draw and install the deck hardware, winches, blocks, etc

View forward is wide open.

I spent many hours here at the computer working on this design and learning the Sketchup software

This is the same view as the photo below

We hacked together a few photos and Photoshopped it until we had this mock up. Still not complete but it gives the idea.
