About Me

- Location: Seattle, Washington, United States
My name is Fred Roswold. My wife Judy Jensen , my equal partner on this boat and in life, and I have lived on our 43’ sailboat WINGS for 24 years, first in Seattle and since 1996 in ports and harbors around the Pacific, Asia, and the Indian Ocean. We are sailors: Judy, was a sailor when I met her and I am descended from a Norwegian sea captain grandfather Alfred Roswold and my other Viking forbearers. The two of us have been cruising for over 33,000nm since leaving Seattle, crossing oceans, visiting countries, occasionally racing, and living aboard in many places. After 24 years our approach to cruising is changing in recognition that we no longer have the bodies or temperament to easily face all the challenges of cruising. We now take crew when we cross oceans and we are more open to other new paths which may come before us; we only hope to take them together. We are currently in South Africa.
