Sea Lions In Mossel Bay
There are several sea lions who live in Mossel Bay and they like to sleep all day in the big tires hanging on the wall of the fishing jetty. When Wings was tied there we became neighbors with the sea lions and we became used to their chatter. One even fell onto our deck at low tide. He quickly flopped over the side into the water.
But when we came on deck ourselves they often growled at us and I worried that they would nip at our toes as we climbed over thier favourite perch on our way ashore.
I found that I could intimidate them by growling and barking back with my own threats louder than theirs. And when I stared them down and pointed my finger at them and told them to "Shut up!" they turned away and hid thier heads.
I became the alpha male sea lion.
