This historic library is beautiful inside, packed with books and busy with citizens. I found, in one back room, a wonderful collection of maritime books, (under lock and key, but the librarian was happy to open it for me) and I sat for hours browsing through them.

ABYC on a dramatic afternoon

Algoa Bay Yacht Club in Port Elizabeth is a small club with a few boats on a couple of docks but they are an active club. Sailing out of thier marina they are imediately confronted by the Indian Ocean, and generally a lot of wind to say nothing of the waves. And they have a great bar.

Oh, did I say the weather is wild?

Algona Bay Yacht Club-A great club

I fell in love with this place. A great little club with a nice place to sail, heaps of wind (Port Elizabeth is "the Windy City") and a good racing program.
